Rena was born and raised in Westchester, NY, and has been in love with musical theatre since before she can remember. As a child she was not allowed to watch Disney movies because of the villains, so instead she watched movie musicals of West Side Story and Grease until the VHS tapes burned out, and she's been hooked ever since.
As she grew up she started taking dance, playing piano and being in productions at Yorktown Stage. During high school, she choreographed tap, broadway, and swing dance styles for her school’s dance company. Senior year she also took on the role of Charity in Sweet Charity.
Two weeks after graduating from Circle in the Square’s Musical Theatre Conservatory, she headed up to Bennington, Vermont to play Sumiko and The Bride in Adam and Evie (Charles Mee) with Living Room Theatre, directed by Randolyn Zinn. Since returning to New York, she has worked with many theatre companies including Westchester Sandbox Theatre and Compagnia de’ Colombari.
When Rena can find a moment of spare time, she enjoys teaching children's theatre, and ballroom dancing. She also has a passion for choreography and writing/performing spoken word. Some of her favorite works are new plays such as The Humans and The Wolves, as well as classics such as West Side Story and No Exit.
